City Leadership is launching the 2010-2011 series of Micro-Conferences this October with the topic of Missional Communities.

WHAT IS A MISSIONAL COMMUNITY?

“A Missional Community consists of a committed core of believers (FAMILY) who live out the mission of God together (MISSIONARIES) in a specific area or to a particular people group by demonstrating the gospel in tangible forms (SERVANTS) and declaring the gospel to others— both those who believe it and those who are being exposed to it (LEARNERS). To clarify, a Missional Community is NOT primarily a small group, Bible study, support group, social activist group, or weekly meeting.” (From Soma Communities)

At this Micro-Conference we will spend Tuesday October 12th and Wednesday the 13th discussing Missional Communities. How they work. How to start them. How to train for them. How to lead them. Sessions are primarily discussion based and and at their core are very interactive experiences.

Micro-Conferences are limited to 15 to 20 participants. Everyone stays together at the same hotel in Downtown Memphis, all meals are together, and all sessions are together.

City Leadership has invited to each Micro-Conference a couple of Featured Guests. Our Featured Guests for Missional Communities are:

Jeff Vanderstelt – Soma CommunitiesTwitter / Blog

Michael Stewart – The Austin Stone / Verge Network / Twitter

Dhati Lewis – Blue Print Church / Twitter

Micro-Conferences have very limited seating. We are placing a high value on interaction, discussion, and participant contribution. To help ensure this experience we ask that all those interested in participating complete a very brief application.
